School Curriculum

Our school curriculum covers all aspects of the educational and social needs of children at the primary stages of development.  We adopt a child centred approach, a great emphasis being placed on creating a stimulating and challenging environment and providing a curriculum that is broad, balanced and relevant to the children.

We aim for our children to be self confident, knowledgeable, literate, numerate, articulate and able to think and reason for themselves enabling them to make choices and decisions throughout their life.

The National Curriculum divides up the whole curriculum into subject areas as follows-

·        Core subjects                        Literacy, Numeracy, Science, ICT.

·        Foundation subjects             Art, Music, PE, History, Geography,

                                                                     Design and Technology, RE.

Religious Education is taught in line with Kirklees Agreed Syllabus.

We place a particular emphasis on the creative and expressive arts as these areas of the curriculum help develop the whole child.  Theatre companies and musicians work with the children and staff during the school year.
